Watch your agent from your phone

Start an agent on a machine, leave, and answer it from your phone when it asks. This takes about five minutes the first time.

  1. Put the machine in your account. In Getting started, open the Cloud step and connect, then approve the machine on a device you already use. See Add a machine.

  2. Add your phone. On the computer, choose Add a phone or browser… in the account menu of control’s page. Open the address it shows on your phone, sign in, and approve the phone from the computer once the fingerprints match. See Connect your phone.

  3. Turn on notifications on the phone. On an iPhone, add the page to your Home Screen first and open it from there. Then open the sheet (☰) and, under Notifications, turn on Notify this device. A test notification arrives right away. See Notifications.

  4. Start the agent on the computer. Use + Pane › Agent (Ctrl+Shift+E), or run:

    Terminal window
arugula agent "fix the failing test"

Claude Code in an ordinary terminal works too, once its hooks are in: arugula setup claude (or Use Claude Code with Arugula in Getting started) adds them. See Setting up.

  5. Walk away. When the agent asks a question or wants permission, your phone gets a notification titled with what it wants. Answer from the notification’s buttons, or tap it to open the pane with its card.

  6. Follow along. On the phone, Needs you in the sheet lists every pane waiting on you, and the agent’s pane shows its work live. Type in the Send a follow-up box on its card to give it the next instruction.

The machine’s owner is always notified. Someone you share the session with chooses Notify me about its agents in the session menu.
